  • College students and coupons!
My daughter and son-in-law are college students and struggling to pay tuition, fees, rent, etc. They don't worry about food though since they've learned how to use food coupons. They walk out of Publix with over $200 in groceries but paid only $60 and last night they got $92 worth of food and Publix ended up owing them $1.87, because they used coupons wisely. It has helped them make it in during these lean times while trying to further their education. I hope stores continue to accept coupons!!!!

realmccoy and james, you are both mislead. I work a full time job, a part time job and I am raising 2 kids. I have "time" to coupon and I average 65% off my bill. It doesn't take a lot of time if you know the secrets to doing it right. I teach classes and run a website on dumping debt and saving with coupons. I have paid off $49,000 in credit card debt!! So, coupon are great!! They have been great for years! I am thrilled to see the rise in coupon use! There are some AWESOME deals out there!

Also, on things that I don't have coupons for, I also shop at Aldi's. It's all in the planning. :)

    I use a website called thegrocerygame.com
Yes you have to pay, but it's only a small fee in comparison to the savings. On average I save 50%!!!! They do the work of hunting down the sales & the best times to use my coupons for maximum savings. That's worth the small fee (about $1.50 per week for 2 major grocery stores). I spend less using this website than I would buying only store brands OR shopping places like Wal-Mart.
  • coupons
I have been very active using coupons in the last several weeks and saving a lot of money. I use iheartpublix.com website and follow the weekly ads plus since I am a senior citizen I shop on Wed which gives me as addl discount.
  • coupons
I use coupons only for products I would be buying anyway, but also compare the store brands w/the coupons....and sometimes the difference does not weigh out. I mean so many store brands are as good or better then the name brands, that sometimes the store brand is still a better deal then the name brand even with a coupon.
  • Coupons
I usually go to southernsavers.com. The website is great and you can look over the specials from large grocery retailers in the south and print your shopping list. It lists the week coupons were available in the newspaper or where they are available online. Others using the site blog and let you know things they found or help with problems.

Makes couponing much easier and I save a ton of money each week.
  • Coupons do work for lazy folks
I don't like to spend lots of time on coupons, but I love the savings. I use southernsavers.com and stick to one store. By being willing to use different brands (except for coffee & mayo), and by looking online and getting a store flier, I save anywhere from $15-$25 per week. The couponing takes about 20 minutes each week, and my son helps me cut them out so it is a family activity.
  • Coupons
Clark is right! Coupons ARE cool again! For anyone to say that they are a "full time job", I have to disagree! I have started "super couponing" for the past six months and have shaved hundreds, if not thousands off my bills. Yes, it does take a little time to clip and prepare, but I save on average $100 (at Publix!) a week on groceries. It is knowing when to buy, combining sales & coupons, and buying enough when an item is on sale to not have to buy it again until the sales cycle repeats. I have started a blog to track my savings, and last week I spent $54 on $152 worth of groceries at Publix. Check out these sites:
    - http://couponclary.blogspot.com (my blog)
    - http://www.southernsavers.com (SouthernSavers tracks grocery stores in the South and is SO MUCH BETTER than CouponMom.com + is has a very active comment/message board)
    - www.hip2save.com (Awesome Walmart, Target match ups and online deals)
  • Coupons
I use both the Sunday paper coupons, web coupons and even the ones that load on a card. Sure it takes time, but if you do them while you are watching TV or sitting outside relaxing...and yes I have a 3 year old...then it's not too bad. I have an accorden folder and have the pockets labeled to organize them in groups and in the order of the grocery store that I shop the most. Example..the forzen stuff is in the back on my Wal-mart, so the frozen tab in my organizer is in the back and I always start in the back and work my way up. I on average save about $15 to $30+ dollars a week. Plus, Pulbix Buy -1-Get-1-Free takes coupons and even double them...free stuff is great.
  • Sunday Paper
I just go through the ones in the Sunday paper and clip what I buy. It does not have to be a full time job. No, I don't go scouring the web for them, but I get what I think I'll buy in the next 2 months.
  • Not a coupon fan
I agree, saving with coupons is a full-time job. I shop primarily at Aldi, so manufactures coupons are no help there. Not to say that I never use a coupon, but when you factor in the time, effort, and running around I prefer just shopping at a discount grocer.

  • Coupons
Coupons are a racket. You have to track them down and plan surgical strikes. It is like a full time job. Why can't manufacturers just make the price lower. I've done this and it is exhausting. Some places doesn't take web coupons anymore because of fraud.
