About this photo: This photo was taken in May of 2007 during a visit to Alaska. Just about 15 miles outside of Alaska is the Eagle River Nature Center. They offer 9 miles of hiking trails, they have a calendar of events that offers many different activities you can join in for a minimal fee. With some family members we drove from Anchorage to the ERNC and spent the day hiking and enjoying the beauty of Alaska. This picture was taken while on the hike. It was absolutely breathtaking.
Best deal found: The Eagle River Nature Center was free. No charge for parking or use of their facilities. We also took a trip to the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage. This is the only zoo in Alaska and although smaller than most zoos was well worth the visit. Children under 2 are free, 3-17-$6 & 18 and over are $12. Military ID and Seniors over 65, $9. Our last great deal would be the Alaska Wildlife & Conservation Center. It is located on 160 acres at the southern edge of Turnagain Arm and the entrance to Portage Valley. The center is open everyday, year-round. Animals that are unable to be released or survive in the wild are given refuge in the center’s spacious enclosures, where visitors can observe and photograph some of Alaska’s largest land animals up close. There is a small fee for each guest ranging from $7-10 but the fee maximum per car charge is no more than $30. Seeing the wildlife up close was amazing.

Best deal found: The cruise itself was an awesome deal. Were were on a 7 night cruise of the Southern Caribbean on the Caribbean Princess. A BALCONY room was booked for only $650 per person (based on double occupancy)! The cruise was booked through the internet about 3 weeks in advance.

About this photo: This photo was taken on Corolla beach while taking a jeep ride through the sand dunes and on the beach. These are Wild Horses (Banker Ponies) who roam freely along the beach and dunes. Amazing!

About this photo: While visiting the Mateya Safari Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa, I was paired with ranger Philip Hattingh, who is also an expert photographer. We were practicing exposure techniques at sunset when we found this secretary bird perched perfectly for our shots.

Best deal found: The best deal I got was the hotel I stayed in...it is in a locals area towards the south side of the island..but rent a car if you stay here. Its called the Sea Breeze Apartments...and its near the best snorkeling area...Patrick the owner is a very good host...

About this photo: Each Sunday Catalans, gather and dance the Sardana. It is about culture and solidarity. Everyone places their belongings in the middle of the circle and a live band plays the music. You could feel the joy of the people.
