Destination: Maui, Hawaii
Best deal found: We went for our 25th wedding anniversary. The
best deal we found was a day on the Road to Hana - no charge

Destination: Egypt
Best deal found: Used local cab drivers instead of tour group.
Our driver knew the best places to eat, best times to visit sites, kept
the panhandlers away and found us great discounted deals on balloon and
boat rides.

Best deal found: This is part of Monet's Garden. Entrance fee is
very nominal and the sites must not be missed. Only 1 1/2 hour north of
Paris. Most beautiful in Spring (May).

Destination: Rome
Best deal found: This picture was actual taken through a door
keyhole. It is St. Peters in Rome. We found the sight by taking
a personal guide because I had injured my ankle in a Scuba
accident prior to our vacation. It was a great deal to use the
guide for us since we didn't have to stand in lines and he
showed us great sites like this Keyhole that had a perfect view
of the church. Picture taken with Nikon D200 with Telephoto 200
Nikon lens.

Ecuador seemed pretty reasonable.

Destination: Laos
Best deal found: Although this particular town is becoming
increasingly familiar with foreign faces, Laos is still in the very
early stages of development so all costs are very low. The best deal
was probably all of the free meals that the extremely friendly
locals offered to us!

Destination: Puerto Rico
Best deal found: The airfare was certainly where we saw our
savings. Airtran has just started flights to Puerto Rico and to entice
flyers, the offered round-trip tickets at $99 each way (just a little
over $200 with tax and fees). The picture is of some of the old castles
in Old San Juan.

Destination: Mt. Katahdin, ME
Best deal found: Back in 1976, a friend and I celebrated the
bicentennial by hiking the Appalachian Trail, 2100 miles. It took
123 days, I lost 28 lbs and it only cost $600.00 for a summer of
memories (and blisters). In the background is Mt. Katahdin, the
terminus of the AT.

Destination: West Point Lake, GA
Best deal found: RV CAMPING. We have camped at multiple Army Corp
Parks. 18 bucks a night and a beautiful view made this one of the best
vacations ever. West Point Lake is alot quieter than some other lakes in
GA. I loved the camp hosts and the accessibility to Atlanta. |
