Groupon spawns competitors with daily deals in metro areas on clarkhoward.com

Clark loves getting bargains. Recently, he bought his two youngest children the chance to go on a helicopter ride for a mere $39 each. Putting a helicopter in the air is enormously expensive, so $39 was a real steal!

He was alerted to the deal by Groupon.com. This free website offers members one deal per day for extra cheap in select metro areas across the country.

The service is available in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago and other large cities. Many of the daily deals are half-price offers for services, restaurants and activities.

The success of Groupon has spawned competitors like MyDailyThread.com and LivingSocial.com. Each service targets certain large cities, with an eye toward rolling out into more markets. If they're not in your area yet, set up an e-mail notification so you'll know when they are.

As long as you don't spend money on things you wouldn't normally, this can be a really fun way to save!

Oh no!! Does that mean my end of the cruise ship is going to sink since I used one of Clark's discounts? It's bad enough that we're not liked by those that have paid full price, now we have to worry about our safety.

So if they charged you, say $100, for a helicopter ride that everyone else was charged $39 would that make you feel safer? Wonder if the pilot cared about safety?

Dining Coupons
Clark is always warning of entering your data anywhere. So here offers 3 sites for these coupons and they require email addresses "for notification" ..... sorry , should be able to check then at will. tx Clark

Do you buy discount airline tickets?
For those feeling the helicopter rides are "unsafe" just because they are inexpensive, I suppose you've never bought a cheap airfare either for the same reason right? Or rented a car because it was "too cheap"?

All pay-for-carriage flight organiations have to meet the same basic rules in terms of safety.

I joined Groupon.com a couple months ago because my neighbor invited me. I love it. We've purchased wine tasting classes, a gym membership and several dinners at restaurants we'd not previously heard about. It's a hit here and I've passed it on to all my friends. I will forward this article to them as well.

Groupon in Atlanta
I love the fact that almost all the offers are in the city! It's great to have everything centralized for the whole metro area-- especially since Groupon is all about getting enough people to sign up for a given deal to make it active. :)

I'm a member of Groupon and my only complaint is that the offers are 99% in downtown Atlanta, so I usually just hit delete.

You have to love people who will go out of the way to ALWAYS say something negative! It is called publicity. They are offering short, inexpensive rides for advertising and future sales. It does not mean they are any less safe or for that matter more safe.
