Kajeet offers unlimited texting and 150 minutes for $20/month on clarkhoward.com

It seems like every week there's a new price point being set in the telecommunications world. Clark recently told you about the GetPeek.com device for teens that also appealed to small business because it offered unlimited texting and e-mail for $16/month.

Now Kajeet has a September special where you can get unlimited texting and 150 voice minutes for $20/month. (Editor's note: This special is for the month of September 2009 only.)

Kajeet also allows parents to track the movement of their teens with a built-in locator for an additional $10/month.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile is offering 1,000 minutes and unlimited nights/weekends for $39/month in select areas. Check their website for availability.

Finally, Fierce Wireless reports that Verizon has been mistakenly billing some customers for inaccurate data charges of $1.99 listed as a broadband access charge. You must call to complain to have the money refunded. What's up with that?

This is Carol Politi with kajeet. I want to clarify Alicia's misunderstanding below. Please note that kajeet monthly plans have no additional daily access charge. The 19.99 plan includes unlimited texting and 150 minutes (with no added access charge).

Texting is fully supported nationwide. However, note that we do block short code texting services. Many parents want to block short code services that could confuse their kids (e.g., ringtone subscriptions that appear free - but are really monthly subscriptions) or provide them with access to content that might not be appropriate for them.

Only had the phone a week. Not satisfied.(yet) Most text messages do not get delivered,and the GPS doesn't work at all.Kajeet says, must be my location. Very disappointed, I had high hopes for this parent/kid friendly cell phone provider.

I recently dumped verizon because my contracty was up and had it was a pain to pay my bill after i switched. As soon as i switched I was not allowed to sign in online to access my bill and all the customer service numbers listed ask for your cell number first and they kept telling me that number is no longer verizon. I had to go to a store and pay my bill!! I owed 20 days after that bill for the time I used before i quit, but when i went back this month to the store they said they could not find any bill for me and that my balace was zero! I didnt argue myself out of money and got them to print me off something that said I owed nothing...screw verizon and their customer no service, you think they would make it easy to pay your last bill or have an option to talk to a person without inputing a valid verizon number first on their phone lines.

I found a great deal thanks to Clark's mentioning Straighttalk phones sold at walmart, with 1000 minutes 1000 text msgs and 30 GB a month internet access for $30. the only pain was paying $90 for the phone and another $30 to load it the first month.

re verizon charges
my sister had issues with t-mobile where they had chargesd her incorectly for text messaging and would NOT refund anything!! we filed complaints the the FCC and BBB. Wouldn't you ??... they felt bad and wanted to issue an apology and ...a REFUND! So...the lesson is they can issue a refund regardless of how far back it is , but the question is how far are you willing to complain?? for myself and family is refund $410.00 after tehy sain their is nothing they can and will do.

Verizon $1.99 per month charge
This is true, with me they kept charging the back up assistance one time fee $1.99. Every month, i caught it called them & they credited my account. Beware they will only go back 6 months on the credit!
