Nov 17, 2008 -- Wal-Mart leaks Black Friday deals

Clark loves the electronics deals you can scoop up on Black Friday -- the Friday after Thanksgiving that's typically thought of as the biggest shopping day of the year.

Wal-Mart's Black Friday deals have leaked, and there are some real steals to be had:

• 50-inch flat-screen TVs for $798 (instead of some $2,000)
• Blu-ray players for $128
• Xbox with a Guitar Hero package for $199
• A microwave for $25
• Clothing for children starting at $4
• Tons of toys for under $10 each

But you may not even have to wait until Black Friday to start saving. Retailers are fearing the worst about the economic slump and already rolling out the Black Friday deals to entice shoppers. Visit BlackFriday.info, GottaDeal.com and BFAds.net for further information.

One note: It's called Black Friday because retailers spent most of the year losing money (aka being in the red) and traditionally only started making money (aka being in the black) on this day.

What others are saying

  • Flat Panel TV $499
I think Clark will be off the price mark this year, a 42" flat panel TV at $499? So far, I have seen any at any store....
  • gift cards
Is is true that several national chain stores will be going out of business after Jan 1, 2009, and consumers should be weary about buying gift cards. Apparently, these stores can offer the gift cards because there is no law preventing them from doing this; it is referred to as Bankruptcy Planning?
Is this correct? and can you provide a list of the stores.
  • sams Wii
Sams raised the price to $425 just last night it was $249.00 yesterday
  • Black Friday Ads
www.tgiblackfriday.com is a good website to find ads. They have ads listed by store or subject and includes pictures and which items are the early bird ones.
  • Walmart gift cards
Just wanted you guys to know that walmart gift cards are still not working properly. Had one given to my daughter last month that walmart had trouble reading. The cashier said it was the 3rd that day at her register.
  • xbox
chris you need the medium level 360 to play the old games the top level has a bigger hard drive than the med the lowest level has no hard drive and cannot play the old games, also you have to hook it up the the internet to download the updates to play the older games. you can buy used and get better info from the gamestop stores.
  • Walmart Black Friday
I can't find them either just a link to a bunch of 'bundles" I certain;y hope there ismore than that!
  • Black Friday Ads gone?
Apparently Wal-Mart had the ads removed from Black Friday. I can't find them on their site. Anyone else?
  • The XBOX 360?
Does anyone know of it the Arcade version or the Pro version. I have over 40 games for the original Xbox I would like to still play
  • TV
    to John J

720P and 1080i is all cable and sat providers broadcast in when it when it comes to HD . Any TV that does 720P will do 1080i so your comment about being 20 feet away is off base.
  • It's a plasma TV, but 720p
The 50" TV W-M is hawking has a plasma screen, but the resolution is 720p which is way low for a screen this size unless you like sitting 20 feet away from it. So $798 sounds like a good deal until you read the fine print, then it's just an average price for this obsolete big screen TV.
  • careful
    this is a flat-screen tv -- Not a (flat-panel) plasma or LCD.
  • Glasses
I ordered from them and mine were a little late but are perfect.
  • More B.S. from Wal-Mart
YAWWWN - these are sale prices? No, they're the regular prices for decontented, crappy merchandise and W-M is playing a little psych game with us by claiming they're deals of the century. Don't be fooled -- hold your cash until these retailers start to scream, around December 20th.
  • $39 Eyeglasses
I ordered glasses from $39 Eyeglasses on October 27th. My confirmation email said they would ship in 2 - 4 business days. Previous calls concerning my order said they would ship on Nov. 11th. I called this morning and was told that they would ship by Friday, Nov. 21st. They immediately charged my credit card when I ordered. Should I be concerned about this company? All I am getting is excuses and no glasses. Regan Walters
