Oct 01, 2008 -- Disney to grant free admission on birthday during 2009

As a child, Clark was given one single share of Walt Disney stock. He kept it for many years just to get reduced admission at amusement parks -- back when Disney still extended that perk to shareholders!

Now Disney has a new 2009 promotion where you can get in their parks for free on your birthday. The "What Will You Celebrate?" promo will be good for both Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California throughout the entire next year. That's a savings of $75 in the admission fee.

Imagine being a twin or a triplet and going with all your siblings for a free family reunion! Of course, you must be able to prove that you were born on the date you say you were.

Meanwhile, guess where Clark will be on June 20, 2009…

In related news, Christa has 2 websites to recommend if you're planning on doing Disney. MouseSavers.com features a lot of info on how to save on the experience. And if you want to stay on the property, try renting a timeshare. MouseOwners.com has resources for both owners and potential renters.

Finally, you should expect unreal hotel deals if you're going to Orlando or Las Vegas soon. Demand for hotels has dropped as the airlines park planes that serviced those cities. Priceline is amazing for Orlando. Clark saw 3-star hotels as low as $30 on some days.

Unfortunately, Clark won't be able to answer any questions submitted via commenting. If you have a question, please try posting it to our message boards.

  • 7 Nights For 4 + Traveling During Birthdays
Wow. A great time to visit Disneyworld for us! Our 2 children will be both having birthdays within 4 days of each other in mid-March. If we booked a 7 Nights for 4 package during the week of their birthdays, would we also receive a free admission for each of them on the day of their birthday? And in addition to that, if we book by Jan 24, will we receive the $200 gift card for the package, PLUS the $63 gift card for EACH kid for their birthday? Can I call Disney directly and book all of this in one swoop?

Any quick help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!
  • Food
Nancy, Debbie made a valid point, in fact most theme parks have this policy because of the costs involved in running the park, a large proportion of profit has to be obtained by food and beverage sales. However, this doesn't make it fair or right.

To say you would rather not be around people like this is just strange, what you are saying is poorer people do not deserve to have access to this magical place... Contrary to opinion, some people do not earn enough to save but should that exclude them? of course not.

Debbie, along with countless other millions of people have a right to bring in their own food and drink but have a choice if they want to purchase any, being forced to is wrong by any decent persons mindset. However, that being said, Disney no longer have this policy and everyone is welcome to bring in food asl ong as it isn't in ice box's or with alcohol.

If in doubt, ring before you visit but please, don't judge people for being poor or having economic scruples!
  • food in Disney
I just got back from a day in Disneyland. At the gates they specifically said that we could bring in water bottles. I brought in small snacks and never heard or saw anyone say anything about no food. But when my kids were younger we used to bring food and a small cooler and put it in the lockers right outside the gates. There are picnic areas right outside to eat at. We would leave the park for lunch and eat right outside the gates. I don't know if Disneyworld has the same thing.
  • Walt Disney Parks
As a comment to "Debbie" re bringing in food, etc. to any of the Disney parks, I say, "too bad" if you don't like the rules, lady. I, for one, am quite grateful for just being allowed into their parks, as I have been since the fifties! Maybe if you would "save up" for that "special day" like our family did, maybe you would appreciate the fact that the Disney folks like to make their parks a really special place to be, food and all! I actually don't want to be around people like you who complain and make trouble - you are what is wrong, not Disney.
  • RE: Free Disney on Birthday
My wife's birthday is the same as Clark's -- June 20th. I wonder if we can go with him? I'll let him book the hotel rooms....
  • bringing food into Disney Land
Bringing food into Disney land is not about security. It about money! Several years ago Disney raised its entrance fee to try and exclude the people of a certain ecomomic class who would bring food into the park and not purchase their expensive food and drink. This current effort is not about security it is about forcing people to purchase everything from their vendors. Talk to people who are on the inside and they will verify this information
  • food and drink at parks
You can not bring an ice chest into the parks nor alcoholic beverages. Security is highly trained in spotting all the places and methods alcohol can be hidden. You can not bring in wagons to haul the ice chest or kids. You cannot bring in a picnic or a jar of pickles. Don't try to pretend that your pee wee dog is actually a handicap assist dog. Come on !!! Don't try to refill a bottled water with kool aid/ fruit juice etc it will probably be highly questioned... they want to see water in that bottle if it is so labeled---if it's not labeled then it will probably denied. Help make it safe and fun for everyone.
  • register on mousesavers.com before Disney trip
I saved a whole bunch(25-30%) visiting and registering on this website before I visited Disney World last year. Remember to register well ahead of your visit to get the monthly secret link (to Undercovertourist.com) for a discounted Disney price. Don't forget to check out the discount codes for car rentals and neat hotel deals on mousesavers.com. Btw, do not hesitate to take a little food/drink into the park. I saved a bunch on food too.
