Hello Clark!
Today, when listening to your show in the late morning in Central CA, you got off into talking about the Smart Car and it’s poor crash testing scores on the passenger side. All that is great, but, you verbally wandered off into some commentary stating that you had this double standard with respect to the safety considerations in your attitude about the difference between how you treat yourself and how you approach safety for your children.

That was a terribly long sentence above. Where I’m going with this is to admonish you over the issue that; you are the role model for your children, whether you want to be or not, that is reality. Double standards don’t make it and actually are a fraud. Your children will go with what you do, not with what you say (if that is different). This is a fact of life. If you want them to live safely, then you need to show them how by example.
You say that you have a motor scooter, that is fine if you wear a helmet, stout shoes and cloves.
My take on this is that if our own kid’s mother and dad (my wife & I) expect them to wear safety equipment (helmets for biking and skiing) then we as parents should be wearing them also. We do just that (wear helmets) because we believe in the principle of being our kid’s role model!
You are the “bread winner” for your kids. Wouldn’t you want to choose to protect yourself so that you can most likely continue to be there for your kid’s development? They are dependent upon you in so many ways.
