I am a social worker and distressed that you were advising a gentleman today (5-6-08) about divesting his in-laws moneys so the nursing home wouldn't get the money. Who do you think pays for Medicaid - we all do as tax payers. people need to pay their own way for all services, nursing homes included if this is the type of service needed. Inheritance is only after the person is DEAD. I see way too many greedy children, worried about what they won't get if the nursing home takes it instead. they should be happy that their parents have the money to pay their own way, instead of being a tax burden on all citizens.
