  • Home foreclosures
Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac need to change all loans to make them like the old VA loans. Non-Qualifying assumable. This would inspire the entire work force to pick up possible foreclosures and also allow thoes facing foreclosure to liquidate their sell their homes. We need a jump start in our housing market, I feel this would provide the relief this nation needs.
  • beware of this scam commentary

  • 10% ethanol damage
Not only does ethanol create fewer Miles per gallon, it damages and ruins things... such as aluminum (pistons), magnesium, rubber (gas lines), cork (gaskets), o-rings (in fuel pump and carburetor). I pay 15 cents more for 100% gasoline. It's worth it.
  • r Country is in debt!
One ITEM - One ISSUE - One BILL

Our Representatives in the House of Representatives and in the Senate waste a lot of time and money to get laws passed. This is so because they do not deal with one thing at a time and a bill that does pass both Houses is saturated with items, addendums and ‘Earmarks’ that have nothing to do with the original legislation. That’s why, hypothetically speaking, a bill on education also has aid money for the nations of India and Haiti, subsidies for tobacco farmers, restrictions on the shipment of ethanol, levee repair in California, road building in Virginia, government projects in New Mexico and so on. The finished product, if finished, is hundreds of pages long, longer than most novels, and takes teams of people, working for ‘Watch-Dog’ groups, many montths to find things they’ve slipped through. For example, the taxes collected from the sale on gasoline are not flat - they are a percentage of the dollar amount rather than the gallon amount so the more the price of gas goes up the more tax they collect. Here’s another, our congressmen and congresswomen in a bi-partisan effort have passed through to law that they receive an ‘automatic’ pay-raise and the only way they do not get a pay raise is if they vote against one when the issue arises but if they don’t vote on it, they get a pay-raise. In that way, they can go back to their constituents and say they didn’t vote for a pay-raise but they still received one. That is why the issue of a ‘Line Item Veto’ has been asked for by Presidents because there is so much ‘clutter’ to these bills that arrive on their desks; “Comprehensive” is a political codeword for ’Packed with Pork‘. Also, come campaign time, someone running for an office can honestly claim that the incumbent voted against a bill on education but doesn’t mention that the bill had 100 other items that he/she apparently didn’t approve of, or at least in it’s entirety. This is where “Pork-Barrel Politics” come in play. They bribe each other with our money - “If you support my Bill I’ll allow you x number of dollars in ‘Earmarks’ to take back to your state/district.” Then our Representatives use that come election time and say “look how many millions I’ve brought back to the state/district” when it was our money to begin with! It is well passed due for some simplification of these bills. Each Bill should have ONE Item from ONE Issue; not multiple Items and definitely not multiple Issues.

  • Ethanol Ripoff
    Dear Sir:

Over the last year my MPG on both my cars ( 4 cylinder 2000 Honda and 6 cylinder 2005 Avalon) has been decreasing from 25-30 MPG to 20 –25 MPG. Two months ago went to the mountains and stopped at a gas station that did not say 10% Ethanol in pumps. Like a small miracle my mileage went from 22.5 to 28 within a couple of miles. As an experiment, came home and tried several tanks of premium and got a 8.8% increase in mileage compared to a 7.8% increase in price. Difference was so small went back to my normal regular gasoline. Last week went to the mountains again and stopped at the gas station without the 10% Ethanol and again my mileage went from 22.5 to 28. Stopped on the way back and filled up again and my mileage went from 28 to 30.

Sent my first experience to the State Department of Agriculture asking if the octane rating is lowered by the addition of ethanol. They stated they could check out individual stations. I declined to name them and no further action was taken.

I have used both Shell and BP Stations on SR 20 in the Cumming area. Both have the 10% Ethanol stickers on them.

I can understand the financial gain as:

I understand THE GAS COMPANIES GET ETHANOL FOR LESS THAN 3 DOLLARS A GALLON.
Yet we the taxpayers are subsidizing the production of Ethanol with our tax dollars.
We have to buy more gas from the gas companies to make up for the reduction in MPG with the addition of Ethanol.
However, with this latest happening I hope someone has the resources to check out why the consumer is getting is getting ripped off by the addition of ethanol to gas in the metro area, and does the octane rating really stay the same?

Just went to Pigeon Forge and again stopped at Gas Stations without the 10% Ethanol stickers and again my mileage went from 22 to over 30.
We the tax payers are getting ripped off on both ends . Request Clack do a little survey of his own and blast the idiots who think ethanol is the answer to our oil problems.
    Thank You.
