Aug 21, 2007 -- Be a home-based call center operator

Many people want to do part-time work at home, especially when they have a newborn. But a lot of work-at-home offers are scams. One stat has it that for every legitimate offer you may see, you're going to come across 42 scams. So Clark wants you to be careful if you're looking to work at home. Be sure to avoid the ads in the back of women's magazines about envelope stuffing, doing medical office paperwork and the like. There is, however, one area that's proven legitimate over time: becoming a call center worker from your home. Employers like this option because they don't have to rent office space for you, so it costs them less than setting up a call center. Typical costs for a call-center employee could be $31, while it only costs a company $21 to set you up to do the same work at home. Bear in mind that these figures are not what you'll be earning; they represent what the company pays out of pocket to set you up as an independent contractor. Fortune magazine reports that there are now about 100,000 people involved in such work-at-home businesses. That number is expected to triple in the next 30 months. Be sure to check out Clark's list of legitimate vendors in this field. Not many people know it, but JetBlue was one of the pioneers in the home-based call center industry. Now companies like 1-800-Flowers and J. Crew are also getting in on the action.

This turned into a nightmare! It started as $1.99 well what wasnt revealed was the 4 other companies that were charging my credit card also- 1 charge was $69.97. Immediately after rec. card stmt i called to cxl..they said ok however they are still charging my card after 3 months-i disputed w/credit card and they had to delete the card and issue an entirely new acct-they are still charging the card Thankfully my cc company is helping me w/this because i had fraud protection if not i wld be repaying about 3K for nothing!!!!
  • YTB Business
YTB is good if you plan on traveling you get great savings on 5Star Hotels however, you don't make any money unless you are really marketing yourself which can get pretty expensive. I received a $20.00 check after my family booked airfare & hotel totaling about $2,500.
  • 1.95 MAKE MONEY WITH CRAIGLIST SCAM
THEY GET YOU TO ORDER BY PROMISING THAT ALL YOU HAVE TO PAY IS A 1.95 SHIPPING/PROCESSING FEE. AFTER YOU GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO AND SUBMIT YOUR ORDER FOR PROCESSING, THEN THEY SEND YOU THERE TERMS OF AGREEMENT--AFTER THEY ALREADY PROCESSED YOUR ORDER! THEY KNOW MOST PEOPLE WON'T EXPECT THERE TO BE ANY OTHER TERMS THAN WHAT WAS LISTED BEFORE THEY ORDERED BECAUSE YOU USUALLY AGREE TO THE TERMS BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO BUY INTO SOMETHING. SO THEY DON'T REVEAL THE TRUE TERMS UNTIL AFTER YOUR ORDER IS PROCESSED THEN THEY CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD MONTHLY THESE OUTRAGEOUS FEES. I CHECKED MY ONLINE STATEMENT TODAY AND FOUND THAT THESE PEOPLE HAD BEEN CHARGING ME 39.90 PER MONTH FOR ALMOST A YEAR. I REALIZE I SHOULD'VE DONE BETTER AT CHECKING MY STATEMENT BUT I WASN'T EXPECTING TO BE CHARGED FOR SOMETHING I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR. PLUS THEY DON'T GIVE YOU ENOUGH INFO FOR YOU TO TRULY BE SUCCESFULL AT IT. WE THINK ITS NOT A BIG RISK BECAUSE ITS ONLY 1.95 BUT THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO GET YOUR CREDIT INFO SO THEY CAN CHARGE YOU FEES. CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE GETS YOU NOWHERE-THEY WILL ALL ACT LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW WHO YOU CAN CONTACT TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK. I WAS TOLD THEY DON'T KNOW WHO THE COMPANY IS THAT I SIGNED UP WITH. BUT WHAT'S FUNNY IS THEY DID OFFER ME A REFUND FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS. OKAY, YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THE COMPANY IS BUT YOU CAN OFFER A REFUND ON THEIR BEHALF. THEFT BY DECEPTION-THEY ARE GOOD AT MAKING SURE YOU CAN'T PROVE THEFT BY SENDING YOU A COPY OF THE TERMS AFTER THE FACT. THEY KNOW YOU CAN'T PROVE THAT YOU DIDN'T SEE IT BEFORE YOU SIGNED UP. IF THE FINE PRINT WAS THERE BEFORE I SUBMITTED MY ORDER-IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND-THOUGH NOW THEY CLAIM IT WAS ON EVERY PAGE. IT WAS NOT!!! ALSO I AM A SKEPTIC BY NATURE SO I KEPT THE ORIGINAL EMAIL WITH THE OFFER THEY EXTENDED ME AND THE 1.95 ORDER CONFIRMATION EMAIL. NONE OF THE LINKS ARE WORKING (OF COURSE). THEY SENT ME A NEW EMAIL WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS TODAY-I HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. I CALLED THEM BACK AND THE GUY 'JOHN' ON THE PHONE CONFIRMED THAT THE COMPANY NAME WAS LISTYOURADSONLINE.COM BUT WHEN I SAID THE LINK DIDN'T WORK AND ASKED FOR THE COMPANY INFO HE SAID "YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO KEEP TRYING TO FIND THE COMPANY INFO ON THE INTERNET." ITS NONEXISTENT! BEWARE!!! THE SCAMMERS SO-CALLED NAME IS: listyouradsonline.com their phone # is 1-866-228-1231 and 1-888-321-9861
  • read your fine print
people you have to read that fine print on the terms section of google. it will tell you how much money they are going to take out and when. As long as you cancel with in there time frame its no problem.
  • Paid Off

  • posting ads for Google from home
Can anyone report as to the legitimacy or not of the home based opportunity to post ads for Google? My Google Biz Kit is on the way and i am thinking I should have done mroe research first!!
    Please advise!
  • I did the $1.95 thing
I gave my card number on a sunday night and the very first night i called to cancel, noone picked up. So Saturday of the following week i checked my accunt and these people had took out $49.00 and some change. I am so mad it made me go into the red on my account and the bank want to charge me fees. I am so so so angry still on this matter. I knew this was to good to be true. This is why google make so much money. When they want your card info.. do not give it. They make so much money why trouble a person for a 1.95 shipping fee when nothing is shipped why, it make sense if you are legit why not take it out of the first money earned. Also when you do that, they have some other people to hit your account as well. To the poor man getting tangled in something like this they call it theft by deception. America is full of cheating people that donot want to do what is right.

  • google work at home $1.95
I would like to know what Rick says is true. Yesterday I went ahead and paid the $1.95 with no mention of additional costs. My concern now is the orginal add is no longer on Mr. Howard's site and I have to ask why that is or what happened.

  • Google Jobs
Does anyone know if the Google work from home program is legit? It starts with a $1.95 payment by credit card for the information then starts billing your card $85.00 month. They advertise that you can earn $5,500 monthly posting google links. There is even an ad for it on Clark's main page.

  • Physician Recruiting Firm
Has any one ever heard of the firm Monte Staffing? My wife is looking to work from home and we've run across several shady work from home sites. This firm seems reputable so far but we just wanted to see what others knew.
  • YTB
They did not explain themselves properly. $4 or so for a plane ticket that you sell. You have to sell quite a bit of cruise packages to make any money. The money is made when you recruit others... pyramid, as far as I am concerned. I let it go and counted my $500 membership fee as a loss.
  • Employer Credit Checks
Can anyone tell me how to confirm if a potential employer checked your credit?
I thought this didn't show up on your credit report. Thanks in advance!
  • Credit checks
We have been unemployed for a bit and have gotten behind on payments. Now on almost every job we apply for, they want to do a credit check which then lowers your credit score. After weeks of my husband and I been applying for jobs...we still have nosy potential employers checking our credit. I feel that this is discrimination. My job qualification should be based on my credentials, not on my credit score.
  • Work at home & YTB
I currently signed up for YTB. I like for the travel part, but not much into the marketing. If you want to make it, you have to do the marketing, otherwise you may just break even, unless you book a lot of cruises and all inclusives. I also work for West, an at home call center.
