Your old TV can work for years to come

If you have a traditional television, don’t think that it will be obsolete when the HD deadline hits in 2009. The only people affected are the ones that pick up signals with rabbit ears. Even then, you can buy converter boxes for little to nothing because the government will be subsidizing them. The television industry is trying to get people to panic buy so that they can increase their sales. If you don’t care about a huge new flat screen or getting a high definition picture, then don’t even worry about it. Your television will be able to work for a long time to come. Look out though, if it turns out you want a new TV with a better picture when the HD deadline comes around, the prices are dropping rapidly. You can get a nice TV for cheap.

Everyone loves small cars now

Actual demand for gasoline has gone up over the past year even though the price has gone up substantially. In America, more than almost anywhere else, we have really long commutes. This means that most of our driving is inelastic, which means we basically have to drive and we don’t often drive for leisure. Small cars and 4 cylinder engine cars are being bought in droves these days. BMW is even bringing their one series car over from Europe to the US as well. Clark rented a Chevy Aveo in Washington D.C. and loved getting 37 miles to the gallon in it as well as the ease of parking in the downtown area.

Take a vacation!!

Take a vacation! The average American takes only 11 of their 14 days of vacation. In countries like Spain and Germany, they get upwards of 25 days and take all but one or two. Even when we take vacation here in America we can’t really seem to break away from the job. We have our blackberries and our company e-mail that tie us to our job even when away. You are not good to your company when you are burned out and working all the time. When you take a vacation you come back rested and clearer-headed. So take a lesson from some of these other countries and take a real vacation. It will be good for you and your company.

Shop around for Homeowners Insurance

Home owners' insurance prices are actually going down. The business is changing its pricing strategy. Computers have now made it possible to weigh hundreds of factors to price your policy. The price differences between different insurers can be huge because of their different systems of pricing. If you have a great credit score, haven’t had a claim in a while, and live in a relatively safe area you could save hundreds or even more each year just by switching companies. Also, you can raise your deductible to save money. This will keep you from making small claims and it will save you money every month on your premium.
