Jun 08, 2007 -- Phone companies get into the TV game
The monopoly phone companies are trying to break into the television industry. Verizon, AT&T and others, which have become irrelevant in the antiquated home phone industry, are becoming now key third competitors in the local TV business. This is great for the consumer to have other options and more ability to fire your TV company for bad service or high prices. So look in your market to see if it is close to happening where you are. Also, dont deal with the companies that have terrible customer-no-service. This extra competition would be just one more avenue for the consumer if they are treated wrongly.

Bellsouth/att phone service
In June I called att to pay my phone bill check by phone in the amount of $155 and they made a mistake and charged$352.54. I did not have that much in my account and I tried to get them to fix the mistake. They told me they could not fix it that I would hve to stop payment on my check thru my bank which charges a $35 charge for doing this. I told Att that they would have to pay my stop payment charge. They finally said that they would. Then about 2 weeks later, 2 days before my twins first bithday, I was getting things for their party and found out that my account was overdrawn. I went to my bank to find out why and Att had sent another check thru my bank without any authorization for $352.64. I called Att and was treated with complete disrespect and they were acting like it was my mistake. It wasnt until I got my bank manager on the phone with them to tell them that they had committed check fraud and that we were going to file suit against them that they were willing to solve the problem. I thought that everything was fixed until my next bill was due on July 11. I did not send payment due to waiting on a paycheck. On July 15 they cut off my service. I payed the bill online the same day. My phone service is still not on and they have my bill being in the amount of $500. I only owe them for one month. How can my bill be over $500? And after all the trouble I went thru with these people because of a mistake they made in the first place they should be giving me a month free, not shutting off my service for my bill being4 days late. Im furious and am switching my phone and internet service to charter but in the meantime I am still without phone service. Att does not know the meaning of customer service. They care nothing about the customer so therfore they have lost a customer. Everyone beware, donot pay your bill with check by phone. You never know this could happen to you and mess you up financially big time not to mention stress you out. I am already stressed out and financially struggling just like most everyone is these days so I dont need any help from some phone company who cares nothing about their customers only about themselves!!!!!
