Comcast has been treating its customers so badly that even Clark cant believe it. Customers are receiving letters from the company, warning them that if they use their high-speed Internet too much the service will be cut off. But Comcast doesnt tell people what too much means. Customers have called the company to ask, only to be told by uninformed customer service representatives that the letters are a joke or not to pay attention to them. Then, the customers have their service cut off without warning. The sad part is that customers stick with Comcast because they have no other options. There is a complete monopoly in this country, and its partly our fault. Clark was recently in London, where the most expensive high-speed Internet service was about $22 a month. One silver lining comes from Clearwire, a high-speed Internet service that costs about half what phone and cable companies charge. But its only available in certain areas. Clark can get access at his beach home in Florida. And, since Clearwire has moved into his area, costs of other services have gone down. Sprint is also trying to get in on the game. The company is spending $4 billion to build a Wi-Max service around the country. No one knows if this service will work. But if it does, the competitive landscape for companies will change dramatically and customers will have a lot more options. (
Editor's note: Some users have reported negative experiences with Clearwire.)
