Oct 25, 2006 -- Clark wraps up BOA challenge on high note

Clark wrapped up his Bank of America challenge today, after hitting the $50 million mark on our BOA “Money Loss Meter.” The bank never budged from its position, but hopefully company execs learned a lesson in customer service from the thousands of customers who withdrew more than $50 million in protest. Clark also talked to Matthew Shinnick, the San Francisco man whose arrest prompted Clark to take action. Matthew has been on CNN and done several newspaper interviews, helping to spread the word about what happened to him and how BOA responded. For the back story, click here. The sad part is that Bank of America never thought of apologizing to Matthew or doing the right thing. It is the most arrogant, stupid, mean-spirited response from a company that Clark has ever witnessed. So, in the hopes of doing his part to help Matthew, Clark is going to give Matthew $7,000 to help recover the money he spent on legal fees. In the wake of the story, Clark had asked BOA to pay the other half - $7,000 – so they would split the cost to make Matthew whole again. But BOA refused. The company blew it big time on this one and will have to live with that.

    what's this?

    What others are saying

    • BOA
BOA has ALWAYS been this crass. I still remember in the 1970's how they refused to give a loan to one of the actors that had done commercials for them! It was all in the news at the time. I and I hope others have a LONG memory
    • Bank of America
Bank of America executives will all go to Hell for what they have done. They are selfish to the point of no end.

Should apartment complexes be allowed to completely ban smoking -- from the entire property, not just the apartments?
    Absolutely, second-hand smoke is dangerous.
    No way, that's too totalitarian.
    I'm not sure.

Would you pay extra to live in a non-smoking apartment complex?
    Yes.
    No.
