Sep 13, 2006 -- Concert business about to change
The concert business is having a tough time these days. The competition out there is going to cause the marketplace to set the price on seats. Right now, scalpers somehow get the good seats and mark them up by an arm and a leg. The original promoter doesnt get his or her money and the artist gets less too. Its completely the opposite of pricing at sporting events. Courtside seats may be $400 or $500 and the stinky seats can be $10, but everyone gets to go. In the concert business, theyve never adopted that model. But that is about to change. If Clark had his druthers, he would take the most desirable seats and set up an open pricing market. People who have to be up front in the great seats should pay top dollar, and those who are willing to sit in the undesirable seats can pay a lot less. But everyone gets to go.
