As we all know, its the five-year anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Clark remembers how the tragedy consumed us for so long after and is still hard to grasp. But we are doing much better than Clark expected we would, despite the continual threat of terrorism. Five years ago, our fears were very visceral and the outlook seemed bleak. People stopped flying for a while and bailed out of their investments. Today, people are flying all the time and the stock exchange is going great guns. A survey by the Pew Research Center found that 70 percent of Americans have had almost no affect in terms of change in their lives. To put it in perspective, think of World War II. More than 60 million people died in that war. Averaged out, thats 28,000 people a day for about 2,200 days. September 11 changed us all for sure. But we can weather much worse.
