Sep 06, 2006 -- Congress moves ahead with Internet toll roads

You may already know that Congress is selling taxpayers down the river because it’s been going on for years. But if you don’t know what’s going on, Clark wants you to be aware. The latest sham is to allow phone and cable companies to charge citizens to use the Internet. It’s known as having “toll roads” on the Internet, and only a handful of legislatures are fighting it. The bill is in the works on Capitol Hill and it’s going to seriously degrade our experience on the Internet. Our Web experience is already ages behind other countries because of the shared monopoly between phone and cable companies. We need more competition in the Internet world, that’s for sure. But in the meantime, Congress needs to keep its hands off the Internet.
