This holiday season, you will be able to buy an HDTV for less than $1,000, and a 32-inch LCD will be as low as $500. DLP or "digital light processing" TVs and plasma screens have broken the $1,000 mark, as well. Just remember that some plasmas are not true HDTVs. They are ED or “enhanced definition” televisions, so the picture quality is not as good.
