SunTrust offers free credit monitoring

The banking industry has made a lot of money playing on your fears about identity theft. Many banks offer “credit monitoring services” that are completely unnecessary but cost an arm and a leg. It’s basically fear mongering. Well, Clark wants to give credit to one bank that is getting it right, instead of trying to get in your wallet. Suntrust has set up free credit monitoring for its customers through one of the credit bureaus. Clark picks on the banks a lot, but he also likes to give them credit when they do something smart or something nice for customers. And if you’re already signed up for one of these services, and you’re paying for it, dump it. You are able to get free credit reports these days through annualcreditreport.com. There are over 1,000 fake credit sites claiming to offer you free reports, but there is only ONE legitimate one. So be careful!

PlayStation 3 coming

The big buzz among electronics gurus has been about video game players, and Sony’s new Play Station III is one of the hottest ticket items this year. The PS3 is retailing for $600, but the crazy news is that people will pay a lot more to be the first one to have it. Bragging rights are worth a lot in the game industry. In addition, the new version is going to have “Blue Ray” HDTV. That is the company that competes with Toshiba for high definition DVDs. Clark’s advice to you is to let the companies fight this out for a while and continue to play with regular DVDs. You don’t want to buy DVDs for one system if it’s going to go away.
