Jun 09, 2006 -- Tolls on Web surfing are a passing thing
There are some changes going on in Washington that will affect your Internet experience. Telephone companies are basically pushing a law through Congress that will allow them to set up the equivalent of a toll to access the Web if you have DSL service. Cable companies will also benefit because they can set up tolls through their modems. But Clark is happy to say that its just a passing annoyance. In the future, we will have multiple ways to access the Internet, including through wireless services and through power companies, believe it or not. So, when you read stories about these toll roads dont panic. It may sound like all doom and gloom, but it will pass. Clark could be wrong on this but he is optimistic about our ability to overcome adversity, especially in the technology field. For instance, phone companies are going to be able to provide you with television service, creating competition for cable and satellite companies. Its something no one ever thought possible, but it is going to happen.
