Jun 06, 2006 -- Aldi's wine and Trader Joe's following
Christa was searching the Aldi Web site recently and she found several inexpensive bottles of wine. So, we figured why not conduct a taste test. Aldi is the German supermarket with extremely low prices. The company now has a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon for $2 and several others for $4. So, were going to put money where our mouth is. Well let you know how it goes.
In other supermarket news, you may have heard of Trader Joes. The store has a huge cult following and is now in 19 states, with its latest opening in New York City. Trader Joes carries organic foods for about a third of the price of regular organic stores. But the company is very secretive about its business practices, in part because one of the founders of Trader Joes was kidnapped several years ago. But people are very curious about this store. As a result, people have started setting up Web sites to chat about the company and the rumors theyve heard about it. Evidently, they get a lot of traffic.
