Oct 19, 2005 -- AG sues companies in gov't grant scam

One of the biggest scams of the past year and a half is the “free grant money” ploy supposedly from the federal government. It started in 2004 and has escalated ever since, usually through e-mails. People have called the show in droves asking how much they should give to these outfits to get their money from the Feds. Clark always has bad news for them. Well, something is finally being done about it. The Attorney General in Massachusetts is suing three of these companies in what’s being called the “Bogus government grant scam.” The companies guaranteed that people would receive government grants of up to $5,000. So, how many people actually ever received money? None! Instead, when they gave their checking information, they got a brochure in the mail telling them how to apply for government funds. The problem with these scams is that by the time the cops get involved it’s too late and the money is gone. We have a responsibility to be our own police officers and not get taken. Anytime an organization guarantees you money in return for your own money, RUN!

I sent for a CD that was said to be @1.98 And they charged my bank account $69.95.

I called my bank and got their phone number, I called and asked why they charged my account. They said when I ordered the FREE CD I enrolled in their on line program for 7 days. They said they sent me a user name and password to their site which I never received. I had NO idea the FREE CD signed me up for their program. They refused to refund my money but said, since I did not call to cancel they had a right to charge my account. I told them I wanted it cancelled and they said you have until August 28 and since you just paid for it why not look at the site. I went on line 3 days in a row and the site was down. I called and was told they were upgrading. I finally got on the site on the 4th day and saw nothing of interest so, I called this morning 7-5-09, but have been unable to talk to anyone. I have been on hold twice for 15min each. I will be calling my bank to ensure they no longer debit my account.

    Very dissapointed!

I ordered their "free" CD and paid shipping of $3.95. I did not received it and was charged $74.95, they said it would be a monthly fee. I have attemped to contact them, by phone it was not their business #. I found two different addresses. I am reporting this to my bank and disputing the charges. this is scary. I am so upsset by this scam. Please let me know what you know about this company.

I called a grant writer{mygrantwriters.com} to ask about free grants. They offered to write the grant for $399. I was told I qualified for $50,000. Pay the money with a money gram and I would get a check within 4-6 weeks. Is this a scam?
