Apr 29, 2005 -- VOIP telemarketers on the rise

For the past three years Clark has been raving about Internet telephone service, also known as VOIP (voice over internet protocol). It will eventually be the only phone system used in the United States, but for now it’s still growing. Vonage is the largest of the VOIP services, and there are others including Packet8 and Skype. Well, telemarketers are catching onto the new trend and they’re creating new start-up VOIP companies and selling service over the phone. The problem is that the people who jump on the bandwagon to help sell are sometimes blinded by the promises and the idea of making lots of money. If you are asked for money to join one of these start-up VOIP sales teams, run the other way. You should not have to pay anything to get involved if the company is legit and the main priority is to sell the service. Some companies may be fronts for sales companies that are really trying to make money by recruiting fresh blood. Be careful!

What others are saying

  • Stream Energy
I am very happy with Stream Energy, I save money by switching and have had great service. I am glad I switched.
  • Ignite and Stream Energy
Becoming an Ignite business owner is not a 'get rich quick' scheme at all. You have to work at the business to make a significant income, and it takes some time, but it pays residually. I've never been approached by a business that was handed to me for free. All types of businesses and franchises have fees of some kind....from hundreds to thousands of dollars. If you do your research, you will be impressed. You'll find the company has and is continuing to be recognized on a national and international level. It is one of the fastest growing companies in the country today. In this economy, that speaks volumes. You will be hearing a lot about this company in the coming years. Keep an eye on the financial magazines.
  • Ignite and Stream Energy
I switched my gas to Stream back in October and am thrilled to say that I've gotten great service, accurate bills, bills arrive on time, and no surprises with the rates. And, the rates are always one of the lowest listed on the Public Service Commission website.
  • Ignite
I am highly skeptical about ignite energy. If the associates were earning that much income there would be no reason to charge a signup fee at all. In fact, if the associates were earning that much then the signup fee would actually discourage new associates from joining and therefore discourage production. I have been approached by two friends who GUARANTEED me a six figure income with ignite. I told them both to bring their first $10K paystub to me and I would signup immediately. Funny...I haven't heard from either of my friends since! It doesn't take a GED to figure this one out.
  • Ignite
My sister's getting involved with this and today she tried to get me to switch my service. I just wanted to check with Clark first to see if this was legit. Please tell me, is it?
  • Ignite
I just got a pitch myself - no way I'd sign up to sell it, but if the price compares favorably with my current provider, I'll switch over the help a friend.

    Faye,
I've also had a friend pitch this to me. I'm in finance for a living, so I'm always skeptical about get-rich quick schemes, but I would love to know the real scoop. Clark needs to research this and get the scoop back.
