Most people don't know they can file complaints about bad insurance experiences with their state's Department of Insurance. In Missouri, our Department of Insurance stands ready, willing and able to assist policy holders with problematic insurance companies. 9 years ago I fought for a year with Bankers Life and casualty Insurance company over their refusal to honor my aunt's nursing home policy. They kept telling me they were NOT going to pay even though I wrote letters to them and called continually about their denying her claim. Finally after a year of this nonsense I filed a claim with our Missouri Department of Insurance and within a month my aunt received the full proceeds of her nursing home policy. Insurance companies like Bankers Life hope and expect senior citizens to just give up on trying to get the company to pay out. If you file a complaint with your state's Insurance Division, the insurance company HAS to respond to the State or risk losing their license to sell insurance in your state. So log on to your state government's website and start filing your complaints and see what happens. If nothing else, your complaint will at least be a statistic in marketing data about that company's complaint record for the year.
