I rented a Budget truck to move 2 rooms of stuff from San Angelo to Austin. The truck was a 2006 model, which ran fine and got good gas mileage until we came to the hill country, and it would lose power on the hills, as mentioned, and really sucked the gas down then. I didn't break down, but it seems like the engine may be small for the size of the truck - ours wasn't even a full load and it bogged down on the hills.<br> I did call the dealership to set this up after I had reserved online w/ U-Haul only to discover I would have to drive 35 miles further to rent a larger truck than I had reserved, so I cancelled with them. I think working with the individual dealerships is always better.
