Many late baby boomers like me are very concerned. FDR had his reasons for providing society a safety net for our infirm and elderly. Opt out/mandantory retirement savings would be fair if achievable in bad economic times as well as good but it seems like another administrative monster costing more than benefits derived. Likewise, I think administrative savings on nixing Medicare would go a long way towards paying for universal healthcare. Wanda Sykes does a very funny skit about granny trickin' for her `scripts that I personally don't want to see become a reality.
