It's not bogus--it works! My husband and I have been able to squeeze an extra 7-10 mpg by accelerating slowly, driving 55-60 (or less when safe) and riding in neutral (in our manual truck). I get 22 mpg in a truck that usually gets 14, and my husband gets 36 in a car that usually gets 27. On a 25 gallon tank, that's an extra 150 miles per tank! That's not nothing!
