These simple to do self restrictions work pretty good for me, lowering the thermostat at night in the winter and we don't ru the ac at all during the day when we're not at home. But the windmill and (although not mentioned) solar power are still cost prohibitive as much as I would like to have them both. My neighborhood has a stream running through all of our yards, wouldn't our own mini hydro-electric dam be great! But it's that cost thing again.
