Electronics and appliance manufacturers also make different models for different retailers, sometimes changing one specification to make it different than any other retailer has, therefore making it possible to guarantee the lowest price. I have sold furniture, electronics and appliances in the past, and have always taught the consumer to compare brand name, features and benefits and how well the service from the retailer is, without concerning themselves with model numbers. Most mattresses are made with the same insides (mostly Leggett and Platt innerspring units) and different layers of padding change the feel.
