Here is what I suggest we do to help stem fuel consumption.

At the pump we should have 2 setups. One pump is for cars that get 20+ MPG these people would get a discount on their gas say 1.50/gallon.

For the under 20 MPG autos they have another pump that charged 2.50/gallon.

That way all you gas guzzeling people can still drive your big trucks to the store for milk.

Perhaps this can be in the form of a tax break/tax increase once a year. That way the pumps don't need to change. It would go by the type of car you drive via auto registration and mileage you drove.

I would also use the extra money that the government received as an incentive for the high MPG drivers. That way the (taxes for gas) would not go in a bottomless pit. Many people want to tax things only never to see where that extra money goes. Simple solution. People will drive less and less their hogs.

This week's poll
Should apartment complexes be allowed to completely ban smoking -- from the entire property, not just the apartments?
Absolutely, second-hand smoke is dangerous.
No way, that's too totalitarian.
I'm not sure.

Would you pay extra to live in a non-smoking apartment complex?
Yes.
No.
