College students should be smart enough to handle their own spending. I was a student at Ohio State where they were handing out those coupons for sandwiches. I signed up for the card, got a sub, then got rid of the card the day i got it in the mail. Ive had a card for 6 years now, am 24, and have never overspent on it or made a late payment. If you're smart enough to attend college in order to get a good job, you should be smart enough to not buy ten thousand dollars worth of furniture and posters that you know you can't afford.

This week's poll
Do you like the idea of auto insurers switching to a pay-as-you-drive model -- where how, when and where you drive may be monitored?
Yes, I'm all for any approach that can save me money.
No, it's too much like having Big Brother in the back seat.
I'm not sure. I'd like the savings, but I don't know if I'd feel comfortable being monitored.
