Scott - most if not all stock brokers let you open an IRA for free. The minimum amount needed comes into play when buying a fund. Many funds do require a minimum investment, usually starting at $500 and up. Once you make that initial investment, though, you can add to it in any amount that you please. Just make sure there are no front loading fees, meaning there are no transaction fees to buy the fund. <br> <br> Dennis - check out Clark's guide to investing. I think he like Charles Schwab but there are others like Etrade and Scottrade. <br> <br> Barbara - check out morningstar.com. You can look at everything you need to know about mutual funds, from minimum investment required to long-term performance. Just do some homework and it will pay off down the road!
