SAT Web sites

  • www.collegeboard.com - Hosted by the organization that sponsors the SAT. On the site, you'll find the "SAT Question of the Day," as well as a "Skill Builders" section to help fine-tune your math and verbal skills. There are also sample questions from past tests along with an explanation of the correct answers to each question.

  • www.vocabulary.com - Vocabulary is extremely important in SAT exams, and you can brush up on your skills on this site. It houses 5,000 words (each with a brief definition) that you might encounter on an SAT.

  • www.WorkmanWeb.com - More definitions and SAT test-taking advice.

  • www.number2.com - More definitions and SAT test-taking advice.

  • www.testtakers.com - Free diagnostic test.

  • www.gomath.com - Free math help using simple animation to bring problems and solutions to life.

  • swarthmore.edu - Provides an "Ask Dr. Math" area with answers to hundreds of math-related questions. Site is well-organized site.

  • cornell.edu - More math links and help.

  • www.testcaliber.com - Horizon Software has a complete online SAT practice exam that includes hints and reference tools.

  • Princeton Review - Offers a free version of the 30- question diagnostic test that it has on its CD-ROM. You have to register, but there is no cost or obligation.

  • stthomas.edu - Although its not specific to the SAT, the University of St. Thomas Study Guides and Strategies page has some excellent advice and tips.

  • www.schooldiscovery.com - Another extremely useful resource is Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators, which has a "homework helper" section with links to all sorts of educational resources.
