my not-so-new MP3 player

I broke my little 100 song MP3 player while we were in Hawaii.  Ever since, I've been drooling over many different high tech players.

The ones I've really wanted cost a bit of dough, and the idea of putting out that kinda money made me yearn for an all in one phone.

This phone of my dreams would have an MP3 and video player, an excellent camera (with flash), an awesome GPS, free internet etc...etc. (I'm still developing the dream).  I love the iPhone, but even that pricey gadget isn't quite up to my dream device standards.  Until this dream device of mine is out and available under $100 (I said it was a dream device) I really don't want to spend too much money on technology that I hope to replace within a few years.

This weekend, while I've been tooling around looking for a cheap MP3 player, I ended up on my cell phone provider's website looking at their new phones that have that ability.   There's a bunch, but they were pretty pricey.  However, considering I've never paid for a cell phone- just taken the free upgrades when I've chosen to renew my contract-my idea of pricey might be off.  Then I saw a blurb about the phone hat I currently have: the Samsung SGH -T629....Turns out it has an MP3 player built in!  I just never bothered to read the manual or really play around with it.....I had used the camera, but that was about it.

So, to share Christa's spirit of "taking better care of the things I have", my new MP3 player is my old phone.  It's really just fine for a low tech girl like me.  It holds about 200 songs, which means I'm twice as well off as I was with my last player....

And the best part...It was free!  I'll keep dreaming of my magic phone, but until then, I'm thrilled I didn't' have to buy anything new!

I am a computer and gadget junkie, but if I may advise, the best deal in any electronics are refurbished units directly from manufacturer with warranty. Sometimes you may save fortune. Since we are talking about MP3 an cell phones; I like Apple a lot, but with one exception I always buy Apple refurbished products from Apple.com. You will get full 12 months of warranty and plus savings sometimes up to 44% off the original price. Also AT&T has its own refurbished program for cell phones (many brands), of course you have to sign contract to get a deal. Best summary of daily deals on electronics can be found on Dealmac.com, which I highly recommend for bargain hunters in electronics and computers.
