Almanzo

We have a new member of our family - a little dog named Snuggles. He came from a puppy mill bust in North Georgia and is about two years old. He is as sweet and happy as can be, and he's a wonderful addition to our family.

It's pretty funny to see Loomis and Snuggles playing together, as Loomis is almost 50 lbs and Snuggles is just shy of 8 lbs. They adore eachother and even sleep together.

So why did I title this entry Almanzo? All of you "Little House on the Prairie" fans out there will understand. I've been reading a chapter a night to Clare before bed from my prized book set by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and her husband's name was Almanzo. I wanted to name Snuggles Almanzo, but I was voted down by the family. Our new little dog is sweet, cute, and blonde - just like "Manly."

For anyone out there considering adopting a dog, I implore you to check out your local shelters. There are so many dogs out there that need good homes, you are sure to find a good match for you and your family. Want a pure bred dog? Find a breed rescue. We weren't looking for a purebred, but Snuggles happens to be a Shih-Tzu.

Thanks for reading this and I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July. I feel incredibly grateful to be an American.

  • Your Information
    Great advice as usual,Christa!! Thanks.
  • Mortgage Cheaters
Someone PLEASE explain how working people can just stop making their house payments for a year, move out, then have money to pay rent. If they have money for rent, why don't they pay their mortgage, or put their home up for sale before the bank repos it? These people want my sympathy. They make 2x what we do, and feel their overspending is some else's fault. Shouldn't there be some stiff penalties or legal stipulations before you are allowed to just walk away from your responsibilities? They claim their lawyer suggested they stop paying on their home, so they've been living there for over a year without making one payment. How unfair to the rest of us who pay our bills. Is this a new trend? I also know a lady I work with who's husband is a BANKER and they did the same thing?
  • Economy and Dec 2012
Do you think there is any hiccops in the economy due to the pending dome on Earth Dec 17, 2012 when the commet might hit the planet earth and cause great devistation? If not know what would happen to the markets leading up to this day. Hopefully the meteor will not hit earth, because I don't have a gf yet and no child and I just opened my own business late last year.
  • Question about local company
I saw a sign recently and got a flyer for this site: www.nextracinc.com. They offer a $25 gift card for a listing and say they can save money on home-improvement projects. I was wondering if Clark or you have used them or know anything about them. Thanks!

  • Prostate Cancer
Please tell Clark that the Memorial Sloan Kettering web site has a tool that can be used to evaluate treatment options based on his situation. I found it valuable in helping me to decide the best treatment option for my prostate cancer.
  • Prostate Cancer
Christa, PLEASE tell Clark to check out RCOG. Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia her in Atlanta. They are the #1`prostate cancer treatment center in America. They radiate seed implants, with much better cure rate than prostate removal. Clark is CRAZY to have surgery. Is he aware of the side effects and higher risk of cancer returning using robitics for prostae removal? Make him go see Dr. Frank Critz at RCOG.
  • prostate cancer
I just want to tell Clark that I have a grandfather and uncle with this disease they are taking natural supplements and on the phase one diet. check the page www.knowthecause.com the PSI test is fungus bad for your body. take care Clark . I always listen to your show.
  • Clark's Prostate Cancer
I just read about Clark's diagnosis. I have the same diagnosis and had surgery on Feb. 2nd. It was done robotically by Dr. Scott Miller at Northside Hospital. The result was nothing short of amazing. I was up and walking within twelve hours of surgery. Within a day I was only taking Tylenol for pain. Within three days I was pain free. I was back at work within ten days with virtually none of the nasty side effects they warn you about.

I highly recommend the robotic surgery, and Dr. Miller is a class act. Please send this to Clark. I hope it helps. Get well soon, Clark.
  • Savings For Restaurants
We heard Clark today talking about the struggles of restaurants and of course us consumers needing more savings as well. We are a couple of entrepreneurs that have developed a new site that gives restaurants and entertainment an affordable way to reach consumers, and a way for consumers to save money eating out. The consumer site launches in April. The current site is a demo site and a way for restauants to sign up. www.l-eat.com
  • permission from Clark
Hi! I have listened almost for 8 years! Having grown children, and listening to your listeners and other research, i am writing a book for people just graduating, teaching them about roommates, applying for college, bank rip-offs etc. I want to mention and advise people to listen to clark's radio show. Do I need written permission to mention Clark Howard, and his radio show in the book? I would also like to mention for further research to BUY HIS book also! I listed on WSB , Atlanta !SandyMrs1992@aol.com
  • found money
I cannot find a way to compliment Clark Howard so I will use this method and hope it gets to him.
Thanks to your easy to use web site, I was able to collect $57,000 from the state of Idaho. It was an insurance policy that no one in the family knew about.
It had been in the state hands for 4 years. Three more years and it would have belonged to the state of Idaho forever.
Thanks for your comments about 'Found Money'on your radio program. I listen on KONA--AM 610

  • Luggage that made me think of Clark
This has nothing to do with your blog but I just learned about "Zuca Pro ultra luggage" and the description made think of Clark. Google will find their home page for you.
  • Other stuff
Clark said in a recent show that small companies had a hard time with retirement accounts like 401K. Has he ever heard of SEP-IRA? We put 15% of our employees salaries into a SEP-IRA every year. There is little paperwork for the employer and the employee directs their retirement investment. Seems like a no-brainer to me. We started at about 5 employees

  • Aaron Patzer founder of www.mint.com (financial management)
Christa, are you all familiar with Aaron Patzer the founder of www.mint.com? It is a FREE website to be used for budget/debt management via direct access to your bank/credit accounts. The user sign's up anymomously and the website tracks your personal finances through your various bank accounts and gives alerts if your account is low or balances are being paid down. I am interested in using but naturally concerned about security although the site states it is very secure by reputalbe online banking security features. Please advise if this is a good finance management tool to use. Aaron Patzer has been featured in PC World Magagzine and on ww.Inc.com for entreperneurs under 30. Thank you, Carol J. email: jenningscjj@gmail.com

  • the show
Christa, I enjoy the show and it is helping me get my house in order. I listen to the show from 1pm to 130pm. The other day I heard Clark say his 9 year old played golf but he hated it because it was so expensive. My cousin said that somebody advised her to get her daughter into golf because there was alot of unused scholarships for female golfers. Tell Clark that maybe the master has overlooked something. Also Christa that same day he sounded like he was blaming TSA for his computer not working, thanks for telling everybody it was a cheap computer,I work for TSA and we get blamed for alot. Really enjoy the show and thanks alot to everybody.
  • Really great customer service!
We have listened to Clark for years and years, and occasionally visited the website for help (thank you!), but today something extraordinary happened we wanted you to know about.
We live near Ninilchik, Alaska (way out in the sticks, 200 miles from Anchorage). A year ago, we thought we were close to finishing our two cottages, so we went shopping for two of everything: two of every appliance, plumbing fixtures and everything else we could think of. We installed half of them in our first cottage and moved in. The second cottage took us a while to finish. Just last month, we called our plumber and said we were ready for the final phase of plumbing. When he came to install the toilet, shower and sink in the bathroom, the Jacuzzi toilet had a flaw. It was actually about half an inch lower on one side than the other. Quite a list for a toilet! We felt it would be a long ways back to the store (400 miles round trip), so we phoned Jacuzzi. They were very nice when we told them of our dilemma. They got our information and said they'd send us a brand-new toilet at no charge. We were thrilled. In about ten days a trucking company brought us a large carton. We unpacked our new toilet, but, alas, the bowl was badly cracked. We called Jacuzzi and told them what had happened. They said, "Not a problem. We'll send you another." And they did. Yesterday we came in from some chores and found a recording from a trucking company. They had our new toilet, but wanted $191.00 for freight charges before they would let us have our toilet. We called Jacuzzi again and explained what had happened. They asked for the phone number of the company after telling us that the freight had been paid by them all the way to our doorstep. The freight company was very nice to us after that and delivered our toilet without charging us for freight. Jacuzzi just called us back to see if everything was going well. The driver just left. We are VERY happy. We are retired, and we have experienced first-hand many examples of "Customer No-Service." We just thought you'd like to hear of a company who went the extra 4,000 miles for us!
    Sincerely,
    Sherry and Gordon

  • how do I post something on Clark stinks?
    Hello,
    Not sure where to post?
Clark stop! We are not in a recession.
You can not redefine the word. A recession is 2 quarters of a negative GNP. There is NO close. 2+2=4 not 5 because 5 is close. You can call the economy anything else but not a recession. Words have meanings.
    Sincerely,
    Renee Clifton
  • rescued dogs
I too have a great pal rescued from the pound. She is a yellow lab. THe Vet thinks she was a puppy mill breeder because she had a couple of litters and was so young. Never have to worry about that again. She's my best friend.
  • Congrats!!
Really enjoy listening to guys here in Macon, GA. We too have a pup that was in a mill. He is a corgie/beagle mix and was very, very cautious of males. He wouldn't even come near me after my wife got him for about 3 months. Now he wakes me up every morning with a tinkle of the collar and lick on the face!!
