This is a very cool site if you have ever wanted to make your own cleaning products. It also tells you how to clean pretty much everything in your house. Clark would love it because it saves money - I love it because my cat peed on my rug when we were out of town last week.
I make my own laundry detergent and I'm hardly a hippie! It works very well. I put Lavender oil in my concoction.
Cleaning
I have always used this all purpose cleaning solution. To a gallon of water, add, 1 cup of ammonia, 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup of soda. This cleans anything and leaves the room smelling fresh and clean
Cleaning Silver
Here's another home remedy that's also good for the environment. To clean your silver flatware... Start some water to boil on the stove. Take some aluminum foil and line a glass/pyrex baking pan with it. Lay the silver on the foil and sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over it. Pour the boiling water into the pan and let sit for about 5 minutes or you can take the silver out. You will notice that the tarnish has transfered from the silver onto the foil. Rinse then clean in dishwasher (alone or without any stainless steel utensils). They will come out much better than any expensive cleaner or polish can do.
