Fran Mitchell Fran
Director, Consumer Action Center

Fran's energy and enthusiasm make her a natural Director of the WSB Consumer Action Center and member of the Clark Howard Team. She's been with the CAC more than 11 years, overseeing the hundred plus volunteers helping consumers with their problems. Fran has been in featured in many TV segments as a consumer advocate and is a regular fill in for financial guru and radio personality Mike Kavanagh. She is often asked to speak at government and educational events.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri in a family of 11, Fran and her husband Ron left St. Louis in 1972 and have traveled extensively, having lived in New Orleans, Atlanta, San Francisco and Hong Kong. Her travel experiences have led her to a part-time career in the cruise industry.

Fran and Ron live in Marietta, Georgia and have two sons who reside near the Atlanta area.

Fran has always been active in community affairs, volunteering for MUST Ministries, the Battered Women's Shelter and a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for Cobb County Juvenile Court and is deeply committed to her church.

Fran likes to spend her spare time outdoors playing women's tennis, walking, biking, and of course, traveling. Using a combination of her travel experience and consumer knowledge, she has proven to be an invaluable resource for the consumer advice line.

This week's poll
NYC health inspectors have been handing out violations to chain restaurants that don't post calorie counts on their menus. What's your take on this?
I believe in what the inspectors are doing. Long live the food police.
This isn't a legitimate function of gov't-paid employees.
I couldn't care less. I'd be eating at home to save money!
